For years I have been painting ugly, worn out or un-matching furniture. But this is the best one so far. It was also the most daring. So as the story goes, shortly after my hubby and I got married we had to furnish our newly renovated home. In the search I found a Super Cute kitchen table. That was a few years ago, and since then the table has been through many meals, a lot of home work, 3 kids and numerous craft projects. Needless to say it was time for a face lift.
I searched for another table that would seat more people. (My family has grown by one member every year for the past 4 years, that includes children and animals) But nothing really tickled my fancy and I still really loved the table I already had. SO……….. One morning I decided that the table would look amazing if it was Cherry Red! And I think I was right!
For those readers who have never seen my living room, I have to tell you that the wall opposite this table is Egg Plant Purple. I love the two colors together.
The table now sits with the leaf in it and is big enough for our family.
First I sanded some of the damaged area on the table top, than after a few coats of primer. ( I used Krylon Ruddy Brown Spray Primer) I sprayed two coats of Krylon Cherry Red Spray paint.
Each piece was glazed with a brown glaze. I really have to thank my neighbour Maxine for comming over at just the right moment and telling me that it was looking sooooo good. I have to admit, there were a few moments that I wonderd ‘what on earth I was thinking?’
The table top was finished with a spray varathaine, and the other pieces got a top coat of Krylon Clear Coat. Other then the one peice that my 2 year old bit and scrached (I can’t blame her, Cherry looks delish!) the whole thing is very durable. I love it. What do you think?

I absolutely love your cherry red table! I once rescued an old display cabinet and Krylon-ed it bright green for Jodie's bedroom! I loved it. I later Krylon-ed it blue and now it's in the tack room with one or two coats of dust on it!
